Granted, that's a very basic 2 stroke design, but this is how they engineered the reverse on their engines. When initiated, the engine sounds like it's about to stall, then starts running backwards. The idea is to allow the operator to use reverse and back out of spaces without increasing the weight of the sled with other equipment.
